What is fostering and why is it important?
Choosing to become a foster means opening up your home to an animal while they are adopted. You’ll help animals by providing a safe and loving environment for them to decompress. Foster care is crucial to the success of any rescue. As a foster you’ll develop the best insight on the animal’s personality and individual needs while greatly reducing shelter stress, and significantly increasing the chances of animals finding their forever families!

To make your life easier, Resilient Hearts will provide all necessary foster supplies (food, leash, harness, poop bags, crate, etc), provide medical support in case of emergencies, and always have your back if a foster needs to be returned on short notice!

FOSTER CARE PROGRAM OPTIONS
Coffee Dates: Hate Tinder? Need a better date to go out with? Resilient Hearts offers you the chance to take an animal out to a coffee shop, brewery, or wherever you may need some company for a couple hours! Perfect for people who only have a couple hours, or you don’t live in a pet friendly space.
Field Trip Foster: Taking a hike? Take a buddy to accompany you on the trail! FieldTrip Fosters are day-long fosters who anticipate going on an adventure! Check out your buddy before dawn, hit the trails, and return them in time to crash for the night. Perfect for the adventurous types who maybe can’t have an animal during the week.
Weekend Foster: We often need transition fosters, or fosters who can reprieve our long term fosters when they go out of town. Weekend Fosters take the animal for a couple overnights, with the intention of returning them before the work week begins. Ideal for families trying out an animal in their home for the first time, or fosters who have busy work weeks but still want time with our fosters.
Long Term Fosters: Some fosters have the space to give a temporary home until an animal gets adopted. These fosters take animals for weeks, and maybe months at a time. This is perfect for people with the time and space to take on an animal full time, while highlighting their strengths to potential adopters.
Emergency/Fospice Fosters: We also need specialized fosters that are able to take on animals last second, or have specialized experience in caring for medical cases. Resilient Hearts will help those needing training to get that training, so we can all be comfortable with any animal.
